1. LED Indicator Diagnostic Matrix
Use the status LED on your OBD-II cable housing to quickly diagnose operational states and connection status:
| Operating State / Event Scenario | BOC-300 LED Behavior | BOC-400 LED Behavior | Dashcam Recording State & Action Required |
|---|---|---|---|
| Engine ON (Driving Mode) | Solid ON (ACC pin signal detected) | Solid ON (MEMS calibration complete) | Normal Driving Recording. Operating normally. |
| MEMS Sensor Calibration | N/A (No MEMS sensor in BOC-300) | Blinking LED | Normal Driving Recording. Drive 1–2m to complete calibration. |
| Engine OFF (Parking Mode) | Solid OFF | Solid OFF | Enters Parking Mode / Powers OFF. Transitions in ~2 min (up to 10 min max). |
| Smart Key Remote Lock | Solid OFF (within ~30s) | Solid OFF (within ~30s) | Accelerated Parking Entry. Enters Parking Mode in ~30 seconds. |
| Periodic ECU Wake-Up (2023 Audi A6) | Briefly ON (~5s every 1 hour) | Briefly ON (~5s every 1 hour) | Normal Behavior. Switches to Driving Mode for 5s, then re-enters Parking Mode. |
| Door / Trunk Open Event | Briefly ON during open door window | Briefly ON during open door window | Temporary Switch. Returns to Parking Mode automatically after closing. |
| Smart Key Proximity (<2m) | Solid ON while key is near vehicle | Solid ON while key is near vehicle | Triggers ACC-High. Move key fob >2m away to allow Parking Mode entry. |
| Low-Voltage Reset (<2.7V) | Circuit Resets | Resets & Re-Learns State | System Reset. Resets if battery drops <2.7V. BOC-400 re-learns ECU profile on re-plug. |
2. Troubleshooting Common Issues
Issue 1: Dashcam Shuts Off Completely 20–30 Minutes After Parking
- Symptom: Your dashcam enters Parking Mode initially, but completely powers off after 20 to 30 minutes.
- Root Cause: Your vehicle model belongs to an incompatible platform (e.g., Hyundai Santa Fe TM, Hyundai Palisade, Mazda CX-5, or Volvo FE). These vehicles cut constant battery power (
B+) to the OBD diagnostic port when entering deep sleep mode. - Solution: Because the vehicle shuts off power to the OBD port, the OBD cable cannot sustain Parking Mode. You must switch to a standard Fuse Box Hardwiring Cable (HWK-5FT) connected to interior fuse slots or install an external Power Magic Ultra Battery (B-130X / B-130A).
Issue 2: Delay Entering Parking Mode After Turning Off the Engine
- Symptom: You turn off your car engine, but the dashcam remains in Driving Mode for a few minutes.
- Root Cause: Modern vehicle control units maintain residual voltage on the OBD bus for a short period after shutdown. The cable's microprocessor monitors voltage decay and waits until residual power settles.
- Solution: This is normal operation. On Smart Key vehicles, locking the doors with your remote fob speeds up the transition to approximately 30 seconds. The maximum delay is capped at 10 minutes.
Issue 3: Dashcam Briefly Turns On for 5 Seconds Every Hour
- Symptom: On 2023 Audi A6 models, the camera occasionally turns on for 5 seconds while parked.
- Root Cause: The 2023 Audi A6 ECU carries out a periodic 5-second system wake-up check every hour.
- Solution: This is expected vehicle behavior and does not indicate a defect in your dashcam or OBD cable. The camera will automatically return to Parking Mode after 5 seconds.
Issue 4: Low-Voltage Reset and Re-plugging Protocol
- Symptom: If your vehicle battery drops below 2.7V, the cable's internal logic resets.
- Solution: Unplug the BOC-400 from the OBD-II port, start your engine, and re-insert the cable. The cable will automatically re-learn your vehicle's specific ECU power state patterns.
