Parking Mode
What parking mode options does the ELITE 10 support?
The ELITE 10 offers three parking mode recording options, selectable via the BlackVue App:
1. Power Saving Mode
- The dashcam enters a low-power state when parked.
- It does not record continuously.
- The dashcam wakes up only when an impact is detected and saves an event video.
- Event recording begins within 2 seconds of impact detection.
- ⚠️ Pre-buffering is not supported in Power Saving Mode. Events that occur before impact detection cannot be captured.
2. Time Lapse Mode
- The dashcam records 1 frame per second, compresses a thirty-minute recording into a 1-minute video clip, and saves it.
- Playback is at 30x normal speed — ideal for reviewing overall parking activity without heavy storage use.
- Audio recording is disabled in the video clip recorded.
- If an impact is detected, a separate event recording is saved at normal speed.
3. Motion Detection Mode
- The dashcam continuously buffers video and starts saving when motion is detected in the camera's field of view.
- Sensitivity and detection zones are adjustable to reduce false triggers (e.g., trees, shadows, distant moving objects).
- In all modes: any detected impact always triggers an event recording.
How does the dashcam switch from normal recording to parking mode?
The dashcam switches to parking mode when:
- ACC+ power is turned off (engine off), OR
- The vehicle is stationary for 5 minutes as detected by the G-sensor
How long does the dashcam stay in parking mode?
Battery Protection (available when a hardwiring power cable or parking mode battery is installed) controls this via two settings:
- Low Voltage Cut-off — Shuts down automatically when the vehicle battery drops below a set voltage threshold (11.8V–12.5V for 12V systems; 23.6V–25.0V for 24V systems)
- Timer Cut-off — Powers off after a set duration (e.g., 6 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours)
⚠️ Note on "15-second delay" questions
Some customers ask about a "15-second delay" in parking mode recording. The current ELITE 10 manual does not document a specific 15-second delay parameter. If a customer is experiencing an unexpected delay before parking mode recording begins, please escalate to CS for product team verification. Do not guess or confirm a specific timing value not documented in the manual.
PC / Mac Software — BlackVue Viewer
Can I use BlackVue Viewer on a Mac with the ELITE 10?
The BlackVue Viewer for both Windows and MAC can only support video playback and SD card management for ELITE 10 and other ELITE dashcams (i.e. ELITE8, ELITE9).
- Settings changes for the ELITE 10 are made exclusively through the BlackVue App (Android/iOS). There is no documented PC Viewer settings workflow for this model.
- Video playback and SD card formatting via PC are documented for Windows and MAC (BlackVue Viewer for Windows/MAC, downloadable from blackvue.com → Support → Firmware Download).
Accessories — CPL Filter
Is a CPL filter available for the ELITE 10?
Yes. The BlackVue CPL Filter (CPL-2) is an officially supported optional accessory for the ELITE 10 series.
What it does:
- Reduces glare and reflections from windshields and road surfaces
- Enhances color saturation and image clarity
- Most effective in bright, sunny conditions
Usage notes:
- Mount the CPL filter at the optimal position for the clearest image (refer to the CPL-2 user manual)
- In low-light conditions (nighttime, tunnels), the filter may darken the video — remove it if necessary
- Clean the filter regularly to prevent dust or smudges from affecting image quality
- Ensure the filter is secured properly to prevent shifting from vehicle vibration
- Effectiveness may vary depending on windshield type (tinted, specialized glass, etc.)

Accessories — Parking Mode Power
Can I use a separate battery for parking mode on the ELITE 10?
Yes. Two dedicated parking mode battery options are supported:
Power Magic Battery B-112
- Powers a single dashcam for up to 12 hours after 1 hour of rapid charging
- When the engine is on: the vehicle battery powers the dashcam and charges the B-112
- When the engine is off: the B-112 takes over to power the dashcam
Ultra Battery B-130A
- High-capacity LiFePO4 battery
- Up to 30 hours of parking mode operation
- Compatible with the BlackVue App and Cloud for monitoring
- Optional Expansion Battery available to double capacity
Note: Total power supply hours may vary based on camera settings and number of dashcams running.
SD Card Formatting
What happens to my settings when I format the SD card?
Your saved settings will not be affected by formatting. Only recorded video files are deleted (including locked event files). Back up any important video files before formatting.
