Key Point
The DR970X Plus does not have a physical Wi-Fi toggle button.
This is different from other BlackVue models (such as the DR900X and DR770X series), which have a dual-function Format/Wi-Fi button. On those models, a short press toggles Wi-Fi and a long press formats the SD card. The DR970X Plus does not follow this pattern.
DR970X Plus Physical Buttons
The DR970X Plus has exactly two physical controls:
| Control | Function |
|---|---|
| Touch Sensor | Press briefly → triggers manual recording |
| Format button (E) | Press and hold 5 sec → beep → release, then press and hold 5 sec → beep → release → SD card formats |
The B/W/L indicator (Bluetooth/Wi-Fi/LTE LED) is a status light only — it is not a button.
⚠️ Important: Do NOT press and hold the Format button to try to toggle Wi-Fi. Holding it for 5 seconds will begin the SD card formatting sequence.
How to Enable / Disable Wi-Fi on DR970X Plus
Wi-Fi on the DR970X Plus is managed exclusively through the BlackVue App:
- Open the BlackVue App on your smartphone
- Connect to your dashcam
- Go to Camera Settings → Camera Connectivity
- Under Camera Wi-Fi Credentials, you can view and update the camera's SSID and password
- Wi-Fi remains active whenever the dashcam is powered on (cannot be toggled off either from a physical button or via the app)
How to Connect Your Phone to the DR970X Plus via Wi-Fi
Option A — Seamless Pairing (Recommended for first-time setup):
- In the BlackVue App, tap Add Camera
- Select Seamless Pairing
- The app uses Bluetooth to locate and pair with the dashcam
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete pairing
Option B — Manual Wi-Fi Connection:
- Go to your phone's Wi-Fi settings
- Find the network named BlackVue-XXXXXX (printed on the label inside the dashcam)
- Enter the default password (also on the label)
- Open the BlackVue App — it will connect automatically
Wi-Fi LED Not Lighting Up?
If the B/W/L LED is not lit white (indicating Wi-Fi is not active):
- Check that the dashcam is powered on and recording (orange recording LED should be on)
- Try restarting the dashcam by disconnecting and reconnecting power
- If the LED still does not light white after restart, contact BlackVue Support
Models That Have a Physical Wi-Fi Toggle Button (for reference)
The following older BlackVue models have a dual-function Format/Wi-Fi button:
- DR900S series
- DR750S series
- DR650S series
On these models: short press = Wi-Fi toggle, 5-second hold × 2 = SD format.
Others have a physical WiFi button to turn the WiFi on or off
- DR750X LTE Plus series
- DR750 LTE series
The DR970X Plus is not in this list. If you have a DR970X Plus, please use the BlackVue App to manage Wi-Fi. The same design applies to DR970X and ELITE dashcams.
