Overview
If you are not receiving BlackVue push notifications (parking impact alerts, motion detection, cloud connection status), follow the steps below. Push notifications require an active cloud connection and correct app permissions. In most cases, the issue is caused by a phone setting — not by the dashcam itself.
Troubleshooting Steps
Step 1 — Check App Notification Permissions
Notification permissions may have been disabled during an OS update or app reinstall. Check for permissions in your phone.
iOS: Settings > BlackVue > Notifications — ensure 'Allow Notifications' is ON and that Alerts, Sounds, and Badges are all enabled.
Android: Settings > Apps > BlackVue > Notifications — ensure 'Show Notifications' is ON. Also check for a 'Do Not Disturb' exception.
Also, check if Push Notification settings inside the app are activated.
Method 1: BlackVue App > Account Tab > Bell Icon (Top-right Corner) > Gear Icon (Top-right Corner) — ensure 'Push Notifications' is ON
Method 2: BlackVue App > Cameras Tab > Bell Icon on the Camera Cards > Gear Icon (Top-right Corner) > Push Notifications — ensure 'Push Notifications' is ON. You can select specific events you would like notifications to receive from.
Step 2 — Disable Battery Optimization for the BlackVue App
Battery optimization settings may force-stop the BlackVue app in the background, preventing it from receiving push notifications.
iOS: Settings > General > Background App Refresh > BlackVue — set to ON.
Android: Settings > Apps > BlackVue > Battery > Battery Optimization — select 'Don't Optimize' or 'Unrestricted.'
| This step is especially important on Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, and OnePlus devices, which apply aggressive battery management by default. |
Step 3 — Verify Cloud Connection Status in the BlackVue App
Push notifications require an active cloud connection between the dashcam and BlackVue Cloud. If the dashcam is not connected to the cloud, notifications cannot be sent.
- Open the BlackVue app and select your dashcam.
- Check the connection status indicator. It should show a blue Cloud icon on the left side of the registered camera name, which means 'Cloud Connected.'
- If the dashcam is not cloud-connected, resolve the cloud connection issue first. See next step for more information.
Step 4 — MVNO or Virtual Carrier (e.g., Google Fi, Mint Mobile)
| If your dashcam uses a SIM card from an MVNO or virtual carrier (Google Fi, Mint Mobile, Cricket, etc.), intermittent cloud connectivity may cause delayed or missed push notifications. This is a known limitation. Test with a SIM from a major postpaid carrier to confirm. See also: Cloud Connection Failure — LTE/SIM Models. |
Still Not Receiving Notifications?
If all steps above have been completed and notifications are still not arriving:
- Confirm your phone's OS and BlackVue app are both fully updated.
- Try logging out of the BlackVue app and logging back in.
- Uninstall and reinstall the BlackVue app.
- Contact BlackVue support with your device model, OS version, and a description of the notification type that is not arriving.
