Configuring event file creation and push notification settings in your BlackVue app ensures every important incident—whether driving, parked, or triggered manually—is captured and reported to you in real time. Use this guide to activate, customize, and manage BlackVue’s event recording and notification features.
Note: Screenshots in this guide are based on the BlackVue app and may vary slightly depending on your camera model or app.
1. What are event files and notifications?
- Event files: Special video clips automatically created when the dashcam detects incidents such as impacts, motion, manual triggers, overspeed, or hard driving behaviors. Note that manual recordings are also classified as event files.
- Notifications: Real-time alerts sent to your app or device when these events occur—helping you respond quickly to critical situations.
2. Setting up event file creation
A. In the BlackVue app
- Open the BlackVue app and log in.
- Go to your camera device in the list.
- Tap More(...) > Camera Settings, then find Event Triggers.
Enable or configure which triggers will create event files. Common options include:
- Manual recording
- Driving impact
- Parking impact
- Speed alert
- Hard acceleration/braking/cornering
- Driver monitoring system detections
For Cloud-connected models, you can also:
- Enable Live Event Upload to instantly save event files to the Cloud (protects against theft or dashcam being disconnected) and choose which camera view/direction/source you wish the camera to upload to the Cloud.
- Choose which event types will be uploaded (default: impact and manual events; optionally add more).
Tip: On newer X Plus and LTE series, you can configure each trigger type individually. Older models may have a general “Event Recording” option.
3. Setting up and customizing notification details
A. Push notifications in the app
- Log in to your account with the latest version of the BlackVue app (Android/iOS).
- Navigate to the Account tab or tap the alarm/notification (bell) icon on the top right of the screen.
- Next, click the Gear icon on the top right of the screen.
- Toggle the button of Push Notifications to the right to activate it. This button is the overall notification receiving settings for the app.
B. Advanced notification settings (individual camera)
- Filter by event type: Uncheck any events you do not want to receive notifications for.
- Fleet/Email notifications: Fleet/Fleeta admins can assign email notifications to specific users or groups (Fleet Plan only).
- App & System: Make sure push notifications are allowed in your device’s OS settings (Android/iOS).
- Android
- iOS
4. Example: enabling event auto-upload and notification (Cloud model)
| Step | App Path |
|---|---|
| Enable event auto-upload | More(...) > Camera Settings > Event Triggers > Toggle On for each event type > Toggle On the Live Event Upload for each type |
| Choose which event types to upload | More(...) > Camera Settings > Event Triggers > Toggle On for each event type (impact, parking, manual, DMS, etc.) |
| Customize notifications | Notifications > Gear icon > Push Notifications > Toggle On for each event type (impact, parking, manual, DMS, etc.) |
| Filter notification types | Notifications > Filter icon > Toggle On for each event type (impact, parking, manual, DMS, etc.) |
- Some events (e.g., “Manual” or “DMS”) may require enabling both in firmware and Cloud settings.
- Free Cloud accounts: Uploaded event videos auto-delete after 2 days; paid accounts retain up to 7 days.
- If you do not receive alerts, check both in-app and device OS notification settings.
- Changes to push notification settings take effect immediately.
- To receive real-time notifications, the dashcam must be Cloud-connected and your phone must have an active Internet connection.
By properly setting up event file creation and custom notification details, you guarantee that important moments are always captured, saved, and sent directly to you for peace of mind and effective response.
