Push and event notifications keep you informed about important dashcam events—such as impacts, driving incidents, or critical system alerts—through the BlackVue app. This guide shows you how to activate notifications and resolve the most common issues when they aren't received.
Note: Screenshots in this guide are based on the BlackVue app and may vary slightly depending on your camera model or app.
1. How to enable push and event notifications
In the BlackVue app
- Log in to your account with the latest version of the BlackVue app (Android/iOS).
- Navigate to the Account tab or tap the alarm/notification (bell) icon on the top right of the screen.
- Next, click the Gear icon on the top right of the screen.
- Toggle the button of Push Notifications to the right to activate it. This button is the overall notification receiving settings for the app.
- For the individual camera notification settings, select your camera from the list. Please make sure that the Cloud is activated for this camera.
- Click the Notifications option from the camera.
- Tap the Gear icon on the top right of the screen and click Push Notifications.
- Toggle the button of the Push Notifications option to the right.
- Choose which specific feature you wish to receive notifications for, including the following below:
- Impact/driving incidents
- Parking mode events
- Manual event triggers
In system settings (phone/tablet)
- Android:
Go to Settings > Apps > BlackVue > Notifications. Enable all notification options.
- iOS:
Open Settings > BlackVue and activate Allow Notifications (Banners, Alerts, Lock Screen).
Both app and device/system notification settings must be ON for notifications to work.
2. Requirements for receiving notifications
- Your dashcam must be Cloud-connected (active Internet/LTE/SIM or Wi-Fi with online access).
- The BlackVue app must be logged in with your account and, for remote notifications, your phone has an active data connection.
- For Fleet/Fleeta notifications, confirm correct group/vehicle assignments and that alert settings are enabled in the fleet app/web.
3. Troubleshooting non-receipt of notifications
| Problem | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No notifications received | App or system notifications off | Enable notifications in phone settings and app Event/Push Notification menu. |
| Only some events not received | Specific alert type is disabled | Double-check camera/app notification configuration for each event type. |
| Alerts delayed or inconsistent | App in background, battery saver | Exclude BlackVue from battery optimization/power saving; allow background data usage. |
| Not receiving on all devices | Not logged in/multiple sessions | Ensure you’re logged in with the main account and only one device receives critical alerts. |
| No notifications after update | App or camera firmware out of date | Update both app and camera firmware to the latest version. |
| Cloud events not triggered | Camera offline/disconnected | Confirm dashcam has Cloud connectivity; check LTE/Wi-Fi, SIM, or hotspot status. |
4. Additional checks and tips
- App reinstallation: If stuck, uninstall and reinstall the BlackVue app to re-enable system permission prompts.
- Logout/login cycle: Log out, close the app completely, and log in again to reset notification tokens.
- Fleet/Fleeta users: Double-check notification roles and permissions for each group and driver.
5. Table: Steps for quick resolution
| Step | Where to check / action |
|---|---|
| App notifications enabled | App Settings > Notifications > Enable All Types |
| System notifications enabled | Phone Settings > App > Notifications |
| Internet connection active | Dashcam online (Cloud connected) and phone has data connection |
| Battery/power optimization disabled | Settings > Battery > Exclude BlackVue |
| Latest app/firmware installed | App > Settings > Update Firmware / Check app version in app store |
| Account logged in | Main account in BlackVue app (not guest or other email) |
6. Common FAQs
- Why can't my Wi-Fi-only camera send push alerts?
Only Cloud-connected cameras can push notifications to your phone from outside the vehicle. - Notifications inconsistent after phone update:
Recheck and re-enable all permissions, including special access or location if required by new OS version. - I get alerts on one device but not another:
You will be automatically logged out from one device if you sign in to another device. Multiple device login is not allowed for security reasons. - Alerts missing for “Parking” mode only:
