BlackVue Cloud uses “slots” to manage how many dashcams you can connect under your account for remote features like remote Live View, push notifications, Cloud storage, and remote video access. Each plan includes a set number of Cloud slots, and this guide covers how to check your slot usage, add or remove cameras, and resolve common slot management issues.
Note: The screenshots in this guide are taken from the BlackVue app and may vary slightly depending on your camera model or app version.
What Are Cloud Slots?
- Cloud slot: One slot allows you to register one dashcam to your Cloud account for Cloud-connected features.
- Plan limits: Free plan include one slot; paid Lite and Smart plans up to 15 slots; and Fleet plan provides up to 999 slots.
- Unused slots can be used to add new cameras at any time.
How to Check Your Available Cloud Slots
-
Open the BlackVue App or Log into the Web Viewer
- Log into your account.
-
View the Camera List
- In “Cameras” tab, you will see the dashcams currently occupying slots.
- From the figure below, there is one camera registered to the Cloud and a total of 15 Cloud slots. This means that 14 more cameras can be registered to the Cloud.
Adding a Camera to a Cloud Slot
Note: The camera should be powered on.
1. Adding the camera to the list
Adding a camera to the camera list is the prior step to activating the Cloud features of the camera for it to be added to a Cloud slot.
- Tap “+ Camera”.
- Allow access/permissions to the app.
-
For Seamless Pairing: Locate the camera's WiFi address (SSID) from the list, select it, and touch the sensor of the camera. Finally press OK.
- Adding via QR Code: + Camera > Allow permissions > QR Code option > Allow access > Scan QR Code
- Adding Manually: + Camera > Allow permissions >Manually (Wi-Fi) option > Go to phone settings > Connect to camera's Wi-Fi manually > Return to app and press continue
2. Activating the Cloud Features
- Tap "Add BlackVue Cloud Features" after adding the camera to the list.
- Proceed to the next steps and allow the app to connect to the camera via WiFi by pressing "Join" button.
- The camera will automatically recognize if the Cloud connection should be done by either activating a SIM card or saving a hot spot in the camera settings.
When BlackVue SIM card is recognized
- After BlackVue SIM is recognized, enter the 12-digit ICCID number.
- Read the information regarding the one-month free trial and subscription information.
- Enter your billing information to finalize.
NOTE: BlackVue has officially stopped bundling the BlackVue SIM with LTE dashcam models and the CM100G LTE module. Some dealers may still have remaining inventory with the SIM, but it is being removed from online stores and Amazon listings. The SIM itself is not discontinued but no longer included by default with new LTE models. Customers can use a data-only plan third-party SIM card. Ask your service provider if they support dashcams.
When a third-party SIM card is recognized
- When a third-party SIM card is recognized, search for the Network carrier.
- Enter the Access Point Name (APN) and press "Continue" (Note: The username and password are optional.)
When saving a hot spot in the camera settings
- When no SIM card is inserted in an LTE series camera or in the LTE Module connected to the dashcam, the process will continue to adding a hot spot.
- Enter hot spot's name and the password.
- Allow permissions to procced.
- After adding the camera, wait for the gray cloud icon on the camera's name to turn to blue. This means that the camera is now connected to the Cloud and it takes a Cloud slot.
Tip: If all slots are occupied, you must free a slot before adding another camera.
Removing a Camera from a Slot
To free a slot:
- Go to “Cameras.”
- Select the camera you want to remove and tap the "More" button.
- Tap “Deactivate Cloud" from the sub-menu.
- Confirm the removal (Deactivate)—your slot is now open for a new device.
- Cloud recordings will be deleted unless you back them up first.
- The camera will remain installed in your vehicle but lose Cloud functionality.
Upgrading or Modifying Slot Count
- Upgrade your plan: Go to “Account” and select a higher-tier subscription to increase your available slots.
- Downgrade: If you downgrade, you will need to remove cameras until you are within your new slot limit.
