We’ve observed an increase in app connection issues due to phones automatically connecting to Apple CarPlay. This interferes with the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connection required by our app and camera.
Technically, Smartphones only support one active Wi-Fi connection at a time. When a phone is connected to Apple CarPlay (especially wireless CarPlay), it can interfere with the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connection required for our app and camera to function properly.
To disconnect from Apple CarPlay:
If connected via USB cable:
Simply unplug your iPhone from the USB port.
→ This will immediately stop CarPlay.
If connected wirelessly (Bluetooth/Wi-Fi):
- Go to Settings > General > CarPlay on your iPhone.
- Select your vehicle from the list.
- Tap Forget This Car to fully disconnect and unpair.
- (Alternatively, you can uncheck Auto-Join instead of forgetting the car to stop auto-connection.)
Once disconnected, you can proceed to connect to the BlackVue app as needed.
Optional – To block CarPlay temporarily:
- Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions.
- Enable Content & Privacy Restrictions.
- Tap Allowed Apps.
- Toggle CarPlay OFF.
- This disables CarPlay without removing the car pairing.
