⚠️ Warning: Formatting permanently erases all recordings and cannot be undone. Back up any important files before proceeding.
Before formatting, confirm the following:
- Confirm your dashcam model. Formatting procedures and button operations differ by model. If unsure, check the label on the dashcam body or the BlackVue app's camera info screen.
-
Confirm formatting is necessary. Format only if:
- The dashcam displays a persistent "Check SD Card" or "SD Card Error" message
- Recording gaps or missing files are confirmed after other troubleshooting steps
- You are performing routine monthly maintenance
- You are reusing an SD card previously used in a different BlackVue model
Do not format as a first response to reboots or recording issues without ruling out other causes first.
- Back up important recordings by saving to BlackVue Cloud, internal memory, or transferring files to a computer before proceeding.
- Formatting the microSD card at least once a month is recommended.
- It is recommended to use BlackVue microSD cards only. Third-party microSD cards, especially SanDisk, may have compatibility issues. Pittasoft Co., Ltd. is not responsible for issues caused by third-party cards or loss of files not backed up.
